Community Development

Join us as Jon Harrison presents GIS for Sustainability with an
emphasis on;
• Demographic and economic data for traditional business
development activities using GIS tools
• Recent trends in utilizing GIS tools to explore opportunities for
sustainable economic growth
• Perspective on the evolving use of GIS for sustainable community
development by combining economic, land use, transportation and
demographic data resources.

Councilman Harrison has served as a member of the Redlands City Council since 2001, including 4
years as mayor. Using his experience as a member of the Redlands Planning commission, Councilman
Harrison has lead the city's efforts to establish a community sustainability plan and to identify
opportunities for alternative fuel and renewable energy projects in the city.

After joining ESRI in 1982, concurrently acting as the principal consultant for ESRI, Councilman
Harrison is responsible for the development of GIS implementation opportunities for national, state and
local government clients throughout the United States and internationally. Mr. Harrison received a B.S.
degree in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
