Today Riverside City College received a Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions grant to implement Senderos a Excelencia; Pathways to Excellence. The project will engage RCC students with intensive exploration of students’ skills, interest, and abilities as they relate to career pathways in Business/Career-Technical, STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering and Math), Liberal Arts/Humanities and intensive academic planning. The project also will engage RCC faculty and staff with professional development in strategies to support students who are Hispanic, low-income/at risk, and/or transferring to four-year degrees and in interacting with and teaching students in virtual environments. The groups will be brought together in physical and virtual engagement centers that promote connections and collaboration among students and faculty, using collaborative technologies and virtual worlds to open new lines of communication and increase persistence and graduation rates. |
