PROGRAM OVERVIEW
After several years of legislative modifications, patent
reform has finally passed Congress and was signed by the President on
September 16, 2011. The America Invents Act makes sweeping changes to the
American patent system not seen since the Founding Fathers enshrined
intellectual property protection into the U.S. Constitution. Now that the law
has passed, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will face a
flurry of activity implementing the legislation and administering multiple
regulatory modifications.
